This collection was developed during the eighties by an order from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. During my work on the topic, an astonishing world opened up in front of me. The world of human pain and suffering, but also of a resolution not to give up, to overcome ill fortune, and live. The world of those who need to be taken care of, but also the world of those who provide this care with dedication. And it was exactly here, in the conditions when all the essential values of human life are constantly challenged, that I clearly saw value of the words such as human mutuality, consideration, moral responsibility, respect of one human being for another. It was exactly here that I could see in my own eyes what real humanity is. What a human being is, and where the meaning of ur lives lies… During the past years, I was trying to publish this collection as a book. I have not succeeded for many different reasons. I believe that the informative value of the photographs has not changed with time. Therefore I am publishing them right now, in a limited number, at my own expenses.
